Interpret with frontier economics

Use 13 frontier economic theories to revisit questions raised by the games, such as why a promising plan still fails. Public goods, uneven information, incomplete contracts, insurance, cooperation, and uncertainty are explained in language a university student can follow, supported by familiar examples, leading scholars, equations, and diagrams. Build a real-world model

This professional workspace turns a regional or business problem into a case that a third party can assess for funding and implementation. Start from the closest of 12 models, or a blank case, then use eight screens to define the decision, ecological and rights safeguards, numerical evidence, competing options, participants, finance, contracts and review. Mark unknown figures as estimates and retain them as research needs. The final case record brings together the safe option, required capital, payer, contract conditions, unresolved barriers and next evidence for an initial formal investment, lending, insurance, grant or public-spending review.

WHY NATURE-POSITIVE ECONOMICS

Why nature-positive economics matters

Our economies depend on a stable climate, clean water, fertile soil, pollination, natural protection from hazards, and knowledge held by communities. Yet most of these functions have no complete market price, and their loss rarely appears immediately in a company or household account. An activity can look profitable while increasing flood exposure, weakening fisheries, or eroding the resilience of farmland. Nature loss is not an environmental issue outside the economy. It changes future income, employment, insurability, public finance, and the safety of everyday life.

Conventional decisions can reduce nature even when nobody intends to cause harm. Benefits spread across places and generations, while conservation costs are concentrated on particular people and communities. Outcomes arrive slowly and cannot be observed perfectly. We may not know the probability of ecological tipping points, and no contract can specify every future event. Rights, consent, and fairness cannot be cancelled by a large total benefit. These are core economic problems involving public goods, externalities, information, cooperation, contracts, uncertainty, insurance, and time.

Nature-positive economics is therefore not simply the act of giving nature a price. It begins with ecological limits that must not be crossed and rights that must not be traded away. It then asks who pays, who benefits, what should be observed, and under which rules participation and cooperation can endure. When credible futures disagree, it compares downside outcomes, regret, irreversibility, and the value of keeping options open. Finance is judged not by the amount raised, but by whether ecological condition and local feasibility genuinely improve.

This site teaches those ideas through decisions rather than memorisation.
